District Governor Elect
Dr. Monzurul Hoque Choudhury is a Public Health Specialist, obtained MS in Community Medicine from Long Island University in New York, USA with distinction. Health Management being his major field of MS studies, Dr. Choudhury also studied DTM & H from London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine under the University of London in UK. He passed MBBS from Sylhet Medical College in 1979.
As a successful business entrepreneur, Dr. Monzurul Hoque Choudhury pioneered in establishing reputed Private Medical Centres at Sylhet, and also founded several other businesses like Pharmaceuticals Company, Diagnostic Medical Complexes etc.
A Rotarian since 1987, Dr. Choudhury has been a hundred percenter since induction. He is a member and Past President of one of the largest Rotary Club of RID 3280 Bangladesh-The Rotary Club of Jalalabad, where he has held all important positions including its President in the year 1992-1993.
Rtn. Monzur orgainsed and led Rotary Club of Central Bronx in New York, USA as its President for two successive years. He also successfully served district 7230, USA, as Assistant Governor.
His illustrious services in the district as District Area Director, Governor’s Aide, Governor Special Aide, Governor Special Representative (GSR) 4 times, Chairman of District Intercity, Membership, Foundation Alumni and other Committees, Leader of the GSE team, Rotary International Volunteer, Leader of International Friendship & Fellowship Exchange Visits to number of countries, ete., enabled him to gaining enormous experiences, knowledge and information about Rotary, Rotary Leadership, and other issues related with club and district administration as well as Rotary’s Services and Promotion of World Understanding.
His wonderful fellowship, magnificent Rotary involvement, as well as personal and professional accomplishments, helped him in getting elected as 2010-2011 DGN of RID 3280 as uncontested. He is also the first DGN from a place other than Dhaka, Chittagong and Khulna.
Dr. Choudhury earned sky-high reputation through his founding of Jalalabad Rotary Disabled Rehabilitation Center & Hospital at Sylhet. He also served as Founder Chairman of Jalalabad Rotary Vocational Assistance and Training Center at Sylhet. As a successful organizer & co-coordinator of Carl P. Miller Discovery Grant, New Opportunity Grant & good number of Matching Grants, Rtn Monzur takes special interest in supporting clubs with programs of The Rotary Foundation.
He is a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow and a Memorial Contributor of the Rotary Foundation. Dr. Monzur acted as a moderator, speaker and resource person at several District and Club programmer in USA, India and Bangladesh.
He is a successful organizer of several Rotary, Rotaract and Interact Clubs as well as Rotary Community Corps in Bangladesh and in U.S.A.
Rtn. Monzurul Choudhury attended R.I. Conventions in Australia, Taiwan, France, UK, and USA. He also participate R.I.'s Regional Conferences at New Delhi, Calcutta, & Katmandu. He has widely traveled large number of countries in Asia, Europe and North America.
Having an illustrious family background, Dr. Monzurul Hoque Choudhury is happily married to Nimmi Jahan Choudhury, an equally dedicated woman for the cause of Rotary & its ideals. Being a Paul Harris Fellow and a Memorial Contributor of the Rotary Foundation, R-Ann Nimmi takes special interest in working with ladies of Rotary. The couple is blessed with 3 sons Shad-a third year MBBS student, Wasif-just completed A-Levels and Adnan studying Nursery level at elementary school.
