Dear Fellow Rotarians,
We observe December every year as family month - a month during which we ought to pay close look at our families, 1.2 million Rotarians in more than 33000 R.C's, and all the members and families of those organizations around the world and our own families. We are products of our respective families. Our family values largely influence us in our attitude, activities, and commitments as Rotarians. Individually we are anchored to our families and so our membership in Rotary club has consequencial implications for them. A happy and harmonious blending of relations is what we must seek for as members of the family and as Rotarians.
The District Conference 2010 is just month away and a group of leading Rotarians is toiling hard to make it a grand one. This biggest event of the district for Rotary information, fellowship and festivities is a unique opportunity for you to attend. Come, attend and go back more informed and inspired to serve.
During the conference the election for the position of District Governor for 2012-13 is scheduled to be held. In the November 2009 issue of the GML I communicated the directives of RI to ensure a free and fair election. I hope you have taken note of them and will extend all support and cooperation to that end.
TRF, being the hart of Rotary, has to be supported and strengthened with contributions and participation in its programme, I am happy with the trend of financial contribution so far made by the Rotarians of the district. I appeal to you to come forward with more contributions.
I shall once again remind you of the very important issue of membership - induction of quality members and retention of the existing ones. This is essentially needed to have effective and vibrant Rotary clubs able and willing to 'do good in the world'.
December is the month of our attaining independence at untold sufferings and colossal sacrifices of valiant people of Bangladesh. We salute the freedom fighters and remember them with profound veneration.
Wishing you a prosperous New Year 2010.
AKM Shamsul Huda
District Governor
