On Membership
In his Theme of the Year, RI President said, "In the coming year, I will be encouraging each one of you to do your part and share Rotary with other business and professional leaders in your community. I have set a goal for every Rotarian on my leadership team of directors, training leaders, membership coordinators, district governors, and club presidents to bring in at least one new member in 2007-08. I am even asking all the past RI presidents to join us in this effort. Moving on from there, I have established a plan for recognizing all Rotarians who bring in new members. Working together, let us share the responsibility for Rotary's growth and make all our clubs stronger and more viable."
In Presidential Citation, he said, "To qualify for a citation, your club should coplete the membership goal and one activity from each of the six categories listed in this brochure between 1 July 2007 and 31 March 200."
He sat the Membership Goal (required) at a net increase of one member by 31 March 2008.
On Flood
The country has experienced a very bad flood and is still reeling. Water borne diseases are taking its toll. Human misery is terrible. Individual clubs are doing their best. Many suggested a combined effort with District for greater visibility and hence public image of Rotary. A meeting held on 8th instant decided that all clubs be approached for generous donation to "Rotary Distrcit 3280 Disaster Relief Fund". Minimum amount was decided to be Tk. 1000.00 per member. Please respond immediatel. Clubs in Metroplis areas are expected to be more generous. Time is running out.
I completed Official Visit of 38 Clubs so far. I was very pleased to see that all clubs' effort to implement the CLP by adopting the new Recommended Club By-laws. I was also overwhelmed by their courtesy and hospitality. Thank you all.
